How It Works

The Beltway Belt is simple. So simple that you'll wonder why belts were complicated in the first place.

The traditional belt that uses a clasp dates back to the Iron Age, around 500 A.D. That's a long time ago. These belts feature holes that are spaced up to an inch apart - not much room for adjustment. Finally, they require you to pull the belt back against the buckle to buckle and un-buckle. This action strains the leather and is just uncomfortable.

The Beltway Belt is better. To put it on, all you do is run the belt through the buckle. A magnetic ratchet on the back cinches the belt automatically, and the ratchet is set to 1/4 of an inch - that's 4 times more adjustable than a standard belt. To undo is also simple - simply pull up on a lever hidden at the bottom of the belt, and the magnet is detached, allowing the belt to slid out of the buckle. Simplicity.

My first Beltway Belt was given to my by my uncle who was issued it in the military:

Ratchet

The ratchet never slips and is easily adjustable to the 1/4 inch. The ratchet uses a magnet to clamp onto the teeth.

Teeth

The teeth on the underside of the belt are heavy duty, don't give out, and have lasted me nearly a decade:

Unlock Button

To take the belt off or loosen the ratchet for adjusting, flip the switch on the underside of the buckle. This breaks the magnetic bond holding the ratchet in place:
